Should my Child see a Chiropractor?

Chiropractors are often seen as ‘holistic’ healers, as they believe your body works as a whole and are completely controlled by your brain. Every command your brain send to the rest of your body has to travel through your spine first. If your spinal cords are misaligned, the signal will not be conveyed properly, causing pain, illness and disease.

A pediatric chiropractor can help gently realign a child’s spine and relieve a myriad of problems common to children: Colic, learning disabilities, speech delays, and general irritability are just some of the problems a chiropractor can help with. For many children, the birthing process can cause pressure on the head and neck, especially if forceps were used.

The root cause of colic is still a mystery, but chiropractors believe that it could be due to the brain not being able to talk to the part of the spine that controls digestion. Once the spinal cord pathway has been unblocked the baby’s comfort is greatly relieved; which in turn greatly relieves moms and dads.

Children who have balance issues can also be helped by a chiropractor. Again, this is a simple re-alignment of the spine.

If your child has been in an auto accident, it’s important for them to see a chiropractor, even if they have not been injured. They may have unknown problems that, if left untreated, could cause pain and discomfort later.

Whatever the problem your child suffers, it is no doubt caused by a blockage or interference somewhere in their spine. A chiropractor will give your child a thorough checkup that includes a physical that is appropriate for their age and a neurodevelopment check to make sure their brain is communicating properly with the rest of their body.

Chiropractors can make sure that your child gets the best start in life, and lives up to their full potential. And they can do it without harmful drugs, surgery or questionable methods. Just as you need to take your child for regular medical checkups, you should ensure they see a chiropractor on a regular basis to keep their body in its top form and prevent future injuries later in life.
